Yes. The rules state you MUST have cases (i call them plastics btw) no matter what you cant play with out cases. You must have them on All Cards if you do use them. otherwise people could mark there cards like that. If you play for fun you don't really have to, but if you go to a tournament without sleeves on some of your cards, they will think your cards are marked(cheating) or something like that. If you play in a tournament, make sure all of your cards have sleeves on them.
If you put the little slippers you have to put them on none or all unless designated as a fusion monster or a monster needed to be set to the side but if one in your deck has it they all do or else you could cheat but putting the slippers on your best card then trying to get it to the top by cheating when shuffling
a case as in a open/close plastic cannot be used. the only thing allowed is card sleeves and they must be clear and all of the same size and shape in order to keep the competition from knowing what card is comming next.
rules state that yes all of your cases have to be the same to keep a player from know what cards are coming based on the back of his or her cases.
