You do not need any extra programs or applications.

R cl my computer, properties, hardware tab, device manager, open display adapters.

It will tell you graphics card. How can i find out what graphics card i have without opening up the case?
Download a program called Everest Ultimate Edition. You can download a free trial of it that will still work to tell you what your graphics card's make and model is. It will tell you every aspect of your computer but unlike dxdiag where you have to already have the driver installed you don't need to have the driver installed for it to tell you what it is. It tells you chipsets not drivers. Google it and download a 30 day free trial and it will tell you every little detail about your computer's hardware and in some cases give you web links to download updates for those drivers. I have a 30 day free trial and thanks to Everest I now know I have an SiS 650 Integrated sound card. (I went for months without sound) It's easy to use and has an easy to understand display so give it a try. Trust me you'll thank me for that.

your first answer is a nice one.. everest is an awesome program that used to be free.. but now that it's pay you might try to go to download.com and find another product that does what everest did for free. PC wizard does what everest did and it's free from download.com
